WHEEL of FORTUNE

After spending three straight days together, Bridget and I grabbed our buddy Jess and headed to the tryouts for WHEEL of FORTUNE!
We were a bit disappointed by the cheesiness of the try-outs but O-well at least we gave it a whirl. We did not make our way up on the stage like Vince, Velma, Thelma, Mary-Lou, Ester and Ethal. However, we will be waiting by the mailbox to see if Pat and Vanna send us an invite;)

Bridget and Dana Bonding Time

While Bridget and I watched PLENTY of Volleyball over the three day camp, we also took the time to sight-see and enjoy.
We toured the Glensheen Mansion, hung out for a few hours at the water park in our hotel, and did a little tour of the city.

Team Camp In Duluth

Team Camp in Duluth went well. The girls learned a great deal and played well. They ended up second in the tournament portion of the camp. Their record in pool play was 12-2 then they lost to a team they had previously beat for the championship. It would have been fun to see what would have happened if one of our big middles had not gotten hurt and had to sit out. The girls had the opportunity to do some team bonding with organized activities and by heading down to Lake Superior.
The camp coach was absolutely AWESOME! His name was Bill Gates and did a fantastic job with the kids.

Grandpa Dale/Daddy Dale

I think Grandpa Dale/Daddy Dale had a great father's day weekend at Lake Sallie.
Happy father's day from your favorite "Pest" and the rest of the gang!

Mayor of Amenia

I am the new Mayor of Amenia. I did not run for the position and actually tried fairly hard not to be the mayor. I have an angry neighbor who was actually running but did not win because I won by write-in votes. Someone put notes, illegally, into peoples mailboxes saying I would be mayor, without my consent, I was called by an angry post-mistress telling me of federal offenses I committed and did I mention the angry neighbor?
In the end I decided I can do this and took on the job. I know that I will get phone calls, I know there will be icky situations and I know that there will be times I get frustrated because I will not have time to deal with everything. I will do the job to the best of my ability and I hope to have a bit of fun as well.

The council people are great people and I know they will be good to work with. Should be a learning experience! I look forward to new experiences and stepping out of my comfort zone. Honestly I wonder if I have a comfort zone?!?! It is pretty huge if I do;) mmm...I wonder what I should do next?

Sleep family

Last weekend we hung out at the lake with Grandma, Becky, Dale, Barney the Beagle, Vicki, Don, Ashley and Tony. It was not the most beautiful weekend weather-wise but it was so darn relaxing I loved it. We did get a bit of kayaking, fishing, golfing and reading. We found a new way to hit our golf balls. We put the tube out in the water with an anchor attached and used it as a target. It was pretty fun!

Bill and Becky took the time to rest while in the sun-room. It was hilarious because the were both making napping noises (snoring). Between my giggles I grabbed a quick picture.

Happy Flag Day

Today we celebrate seven years of marriage on FLAG DAY! It was also the one year anniversary of the Scooby Doo Movie Premier, and yes that is why we picked the 14th of June.
We were listening to the song, Remember When by Alan Jackson and think it is a great life song. I hope that is the way our marriage continues. We have only made it to the third verse, however I hope when we turn gray, we will "remember when" and will be glad.
Love you Bill.

Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows
And walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookn' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

Gus has an ear infection

Poor Gus has an ear infection.
After last weekend's adventures in the smelliness at the farm, he acquired the infection. Yesterday he would not let me touch his ear, was a bit lethargic and whinny. I made him an appointment and after a $107 vet bill he has his medications and is hopefully on the mend. He used to get ear infections when he was a year old but has not had one since then. Hopefully our darling little pup will be back to himself again soon. Well, actually the lethargic quiet Gus is not so bad...no really I want him to be happy again;) Interestingly enough he is on prednisone for pups along with a liquid cleaner and a gel medication. The ear is already less red/swollen and he seems to be in less pain. Must be working!

Fun on the farm

The only picture I have of a person is one that Bill took of me with Gus of course. We had a great time on Sunday hanging out at the Maasjo's. Gus and Sandy had a bit too much fun;) Bill had to give them several baths before we left and again when we got home.

Barney the Beagle is getting a bit older and does not do a great deal other than rest. However he did pop up for a moment to let his ears flap in the breeze.

He then promptly went back to his resting.
Gus stopped (well kind of) to grab a quick drink out of Becky's plant watering water.

He had a blast playing ball.

While out on a ride, I found Gus and Sandy out on an adventure.

Gus literally did not stop running all day!

The Gardens

I always talk about my parents' gardens. I thought it would be fun to show everyone!

The little garden.
The raspberry bushes.
Pepper area lined with beans.
The grapes, current and black berries.

The BIG garden area.
Another view of the big garden area.

Popcorn, Indian corn, and different varieties of sweet corn.
This was the original garden area, it does not show the entire area because I am pretty sure there was a snake over there and I WILL not walk towards one of those monstrous creatures!! Not sure what is planted there but I think it is potatoes now.
The funny thing is that I am missing a garden. I guess I did not get them all!

The Big Hunt

Growing up as a grandchild of Ron and Beth McLeod has been fantastic. We have learned compassion, hard work, how to make an amazing Butterfinger blizzard, how to go cruisin' for chicks, a keen fashion sense and the importance of having a party (including the games UNO or Crazy 8's;)
We have been blessed beyond belief to spend our summers at Lake Sallie in Minnesota. There are so many memories that fill my mind when I think of the lake. Some memories are amazingly wonderful, some funny, some devastatingly life changing, and some just a peculiar thing that no one can understand unless you are a McLeod grandchild.
One of those peculiar memories is that of the "hunt". We hunt in the lake for golf balls. This last weekend Bill, Ashley RayAnn and myself managed to capture over 50 balls. Lake Sallie is an awesome lake for kids. Grandma and Grandpa Mac rocked it when picking our cabin location. You can walk out 75 yards before hitting the drop off, the beach is sandy and it is a very family friendly lake. We are also nestled in by two golf courses. The golf courses do not actually touch the lake but are near by. We are not exactly sure how these golf balls land in the lake however, we do believe it has to deal with the golf courses. That or one of our neighbors hits them in. It is always fun to see the pontoons cruise by and listen to the people discuss the golf balls and the strange existence in our lake.
No matter how they arrive it is fun to finagle a butterfly net or minnow net to grab the balls.

Sometimes it is fun to just walk out, reach down and grab them. The most fun is had by hunting them out in groups, scooping them up and bringing in the bounty.

Then after they have been gathered...we hit them back in of course!
Yes, we are very blessed to have an amazing Grandma and to have had an incredible Grandpa.
Love you Grandma and Grandpa Mac
