The Bathroom Redo

Here are the pictures from the progress of the bathroom. YIKES!

Life without a toilet for two days was difficult. The neighbors did get a kick out of the new lawn ornament;P

Gus LOVED to help...or at least be wherever we were!
Gus was very concerned with the noise in the tub...

Finally done!

Meet Gus Five Years Later...

Five years ago Gus came into our lives, and we have never been the same...
Gus is a five year old Boxer-Lab cross. He is a sweet and wonderful boy, as long as someone is near him. We picked Gus up five days after our wedding, that is right we have been married for five years. Gus began his life with the Jim Storhoff family he then joined our family on June 19. We picked him up and peaceful life in Amenia ceased to exist.
Although Gus was free, we estimate he has cost us around the $10,000 mark over the past five years. That figure is a rounded figure that does not include the cost of food, treats, and normal medical check-ups.
There are many days people ask why? Why do you keep him? The answer is simple, we love him. With Bill gone the majority of the past five years, Gus has been with me through the ups and downs I have had. He sat with me through the twists and turns, sickness, and ouchies I have had. He has caused a few of the ouchies but for the most part he has been an amazing companion.
After about a year and six months with Gus we did get him his life companion, Sandy. The two are biscuits in a bag. Other than the falling out of the window incident, Sandy has been a God-sent for Gus. She helps ease his separation anxiety and provides a playmate while we are away.
You must be asking yourself what is the big deal with Gus, he sounds like a sweetie! In my next blog submission I will expand on the reason that Gus, who was initially free, has now cost us $10,000. Stay tuned!

Sandy's great escape

I have many stories involving Gus, the turkey eating, couch destroying, window jumping, kennel escapes, the trip to Rover's Playhouse, and of course my favorite, the eating of my wedding bouquet. Most people that know me, know all about Gus, however, they do not know very much about Sandy. This first submission is designed to show and tell you about what my sweet little girls is capable of or the ways inwhich Gus can manipulate.
Sandy managed to fall out of our upstairs window, scratch her way down the roof and finally fall eight feet to the ground. What? How? Oh my goodness is she OK? Those are the typical responses that I receive from people when I begin this story. The answer is, yes, she has a broken leg. Just a broken leg, oh and it is broken in three spots and she has a cast.
How did it happen? This is generally the next question people ask and it is usually followed by another quick question? Do you think Gus did it? There are several ideas looming in our minds. Did she jump trying to escape Gus? Did Gus lure her near the window and push her out? Was she sitting quietly and Gus frightened her which caused her to fall out? How did the window get open to begin with?
Ah yes, these are the questions Bill and I have asked ourselves many times. We will never know the real answer but we are positive that Gus was involved and probably at fault in some way. Sandy will have her next check up on Monday and we will see how the leg is heeling. As for Gus, he has felt a great deal of guilt and has not left Sandy's side.
