The Squirrel VB team was in a bit of a rut for the past few weeks. We lost a key district match to Hope-Page-Finley-Sharon and then proceeded to loose to Hazen and Langdon during the first round of the DLB tournament. Then after a night of hotel time...they came back ready to go! The girls played great the rest of the day. We ended up in the Consolation Championship and beat Lisbon. The game scores were 25-7 and 25-16...now the true test will be next week. We play NC at home on Thursday. Go squirrels go!

Hot water is a good thing...but more expensive than one would think
Last night I was exhausted and totally crashed with Gus and Sandy. I normally come home from a tournament, take a shower and feel revived. Last night was different. We came home to three feet of water in our basement due to a broken water pump which we thought popped the breaker on the water heater.
Bill purchased a new pump and we thought our troubles were over so off to sleep Gus, Sandy, and I went...
Bill took the pic to show how he rates in this house;) I think it took me about three minutes to fall into a happy sleep. I woke up 12 hours later dreaming of my happy warm shower...
Boy were we WRONG! We soon found out that our water heater was done.
This morning I took a freezing cold shower, I must say that when you are already cold, a cold shower is not a good thing. It actually hurts.
OK I thought, it could be worse, right. Bill went and warmed some water up in a pot for me so that I could rinse my hair. I put on my big girl panties and made it through my shower before the hot water on the stove was ready. I then went out to the garden picked the red tomatoes and the nice green tomatillos to bring with to my mom and dad's for salsa making.
Off to church we went...
Sunday School was great, we did a lesson on world hunger. Church was great as well. Todd Wagner played/sang during offering and it was an awesome sermon as always.
We headed to my mom and dad's house for a great birthday meal. Meatballs, home grown tomatoes, green beans, coleslaw, and of course apple Becky. YUM!!
We then headed to the garden for some fun.
Dustin found a giant beat in the garden and Carter thought it was pretty cool. This is a regular eating beat...HUGE!
Now do you remember that pot of water sitting on the stove earlier??? Bill SUDDENLY remember he never turned it off, I am working hard at not getting upset so I calmly said we needed to leave immediately and drove the pick-up home in a timely fashion. Luckily we did not meet any cops because I think they take points off of your license for driving over 90 mph. At least that is what my Grandma Mac told me.
Luckily the 6.5 hours it was left on did no harm. In fact it left a smiley face stain in the pan. Kind of neat!Unfortunately the water heater is another story. We had to fork out the $400 and purchase a new one today. Bill is currently taking out the old one and getting ready to install the new one. Now I know what you are thinking...Dana get down there and help. Trust me if you enjoy Bill AND Dana stories you want me on the computer blogging until Bill calls for my help;)
I started this post at 5:00, it is now 7:45.
I have helped a bit here and there but Bill pretty much did it all himself. Gus and Sandy helped too:)
The water heater is installed, the water in the basement is gone, and we are finally going to relax.
